The reason he ended up on the streets is something that could easily happen to any of us . . .

Eugene fell behind on his property taxes and couldn’t catch up. They took his house away from him. Just like that, he was homeless.

With fear in his heart, Eugene made his way to Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM). He didn’t know if we could help him or not . . . and he didn’t know where he would go otherwise.

All he knew for sure was that he was hungry and in need of safe shelter and a chance to rebuild his broken life.

In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, a huge number of desperate people will come through the Mission doors—2,200 people each day!

Some will be like Eugene, only recently homeless, with no idea how they will survive. Others will be on the brink of homelessness, which means they must choose between paying rent and buying groceries. Still others can’t bear the thought of spending another holiday alone.

Eugene would be the first to tell you that gifts to the Mission are changing lives! He says, “I don’t know where I would be without DRMM. I really don’t . . .

“I believe God has a hand in this because He’s provided me with what I need.”

What Eugene needed was nourishing food, shelter, spiritual guidance, and the tools to begin again—job training, educational assistance, counseling, and more. Thank goodness for caring friends and donors[- like you who give generously so that DRMM can be there for Eugene and so many others each day.
