DRMM Hosts HUD Detroit Homelessness Listening Session
On March 31st, Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM) was honored to be selected as the host site for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Detroit Homelessness Listening Session, featuring Dr. Robert Marbut, Senior Advisor in HUD’s Office of Community Planning and Development.
More than 60 agencies from across Michigan gathered at DRMM’s Administration Office for this important conversation focused on the current state of homelessness in America and the path forward.
During the session, Dr. Marbut shared key insights, including national homelessness data trends dating back to 2007. He also discussed how shifts in funding priorities and service delivery models have impacted outcomes over time. A central theme of the conversation was the critical role of wraparound services and the need for a more balanced, comprehensive approach to addressing homelessness.
As communities look ahead, there is a renewed focus on strengthening systems that integrate permanent supportive housing, transitional housing, and essential support services to better meet the diverse needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
The session also provided an opportunity for attendees to engage directly—asking questions, sharing perspectives, and offering valuable feedback to help inform future strategies.
DRMM is proud to serve as a convener for meaningful dialogue and collaboration as we continue working toward sustainable solutions to end homelessness.
