September is National Recovery Month: Celebrating Hope, Healing and New Beginnings

September is National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the millions of people whose lives are being transformed through recovery and to recognize the families, treatment providers, community organizations, faith communities and advocates who help make recovery possible.

At Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM), we witness the power of recovery every day. Through our Treatment Division and supportive programs, individuals struggling with substance use are given an opportunity to take meaningful steps toward healing, stability and a healthier future.

Recovery is more than overcoming addiction. It is about rebuilding lives, restoring relationships, developing healthy coping skills, setting goals and discovering a renewed sense of purpose. While every person’s journey is different, one thing remains true: recovery is possible.

Recovery Happens Together

Building a Stronger Recovery Community

National Recovery Month also provides an opportunity to recognize the importance of building recovery-ready communities—communities where individuals and families can access the support, resources and encouragement they need throughout their recovery journey.

DRMM’s Treatment Division partners with a wide variety of agencies that provide referrals and funding for treatment for specific populations. These valued partners include the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN).

These partnerships help connect individuals with treatment and supportive services that can be an important part of their recovery journey.

Celebrating Recovery at DRMM

Throughout September, DRMM will highlight the stories of individuals whose lives have been impacted by recovery and the programs and people who help make those transformations possible.

Their stories remind us that recovery takes courage and commitment—and that a difficult chapter does not have to define someone’s future.

To everyone on the journey of recovery: We see your strength. We celebrate your progress. And we believe in the possibilities ahead.

This National Recovery Month, let’s continue working together to create communities where people have the opportunity to recover, rebuild and thrive.

Recovery is possible. Hope is possible. A new beginning is possible.

Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries is committed to helping individuals take the next step toward a brighter future.
