“Thank you . . . You’re helping out a lot of people.”

The devastating loss of his mother, combined with the grief of losing his son, caused Jamie to spiral into severe alcohol addiction after years of struggle. After coming to DRMM’s recovery program, he found compassionate support, counseling, medical care, and the accountability that has strengthened his sobriety and given him a way to a healthier, sober life.
Alcohol was fun for Jamie at a young age—and a way to cope. His first taste was at 11, but by the age of 14, he was drinking often.
Later in life, when hardships hit rapidly and included the loss of those dearest to him, Jamie found it increasingly hard to get through the day without drinking.
“I was abusing alcohol really bad, and I was going through a lot of mental issues,” Jamie says, remembering how helpless and hopeless he felt. “Every day, I was basically just wasted.”
Jamie had a good job and managed to hang onto it until the day he crashed his car. Without transportation, he was unable to get to work and lost his only source of income.
Looking back, Jamie sees how alcohol cost him everything . . . and almost his life. “I lost my job and my family because of it. It was horrible,” he says.
Thankfully, God led Jamie to DRMM where His love and mercy are saving and changing lives each day. He learned firsthand how our Christ-centered programs are helping people overcome everything from addiction to joblessness to homelessness.
“They’re great people here. They’re respectful and knowledgeable,” Jamie says. “And I think the main thing for me personally is they talk to you, and they’ve got experience.
“Plus, they’re pretty cool, and they feed you good,” he says with a smile.
Jamie knows donors who choose to support the Mission are the reason he is on a new path in life today. He says, “Thank you for supporting DRMM. You’re helping out a lot of people who really need help. Me included. You’re helping people who can’t help themselves.”

Please make a special gift today to reach neighbors who are facing challenges that include hunger, homelessness, and more. Thank you for sharing meals and so much more with neighbors who are in great need this Thanksgiving season!
