DRM - Happy 117th Anniversary

While the world celebrated Valentine’s Day, Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries celebrated something even deeper — 117 years of serving with real love.

On February 14, 1909, our founder, David Stucky, chose to show what love truly looks like. With very little of his own, he began feeding, sheltering, and praying with people in Detroit who had nowhere to go. It started humbly — just one man, one calling, and a heart moved by God to serve those forgotten by the world. He could never have imagined that this small act of compassion would grow into one of the largest rescue missions in the world — a ministry that today helps more than 2,400 people every day and provides at least 4,500 meals daily to those in need

For 117 years, DRMM has been more than an organization. It has been a refuge. A second chance. A place where dignity is restored, and hope is reborn. Through cold winters, economic challenges, and changing times, one thing has never changed — our commitment to love in action. True love is not only spoken… it is lived. It is found in every meal served, every bed prepared, every prayer lifted, and every life restored. To our supporters, volunteers, staff, and community — thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Because of you, the mission that began with one humble act of faith continues to shine brighter than ever. When you love, God blesses — and together, we keep turning compassion into transformation.

Happy 117th Anniversary, Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries. The best chapters are still ahead.
