Kids Summer Camp
Weekend of Healing Camp
The Weekend of Healing Camp is open to young people (12-16) from Wayne County and will take place over (2) three-day weekends, gender-specific, at Wildwood Ranch in Howell, MI. It is specifically designed for children whose parents have died due to opioids or parents who have experienced an opioid overdose.
Camp Options
The program is free for participants and will include training on the use of Narcan, emotional support, first aid, CPR, and basic survival skills. Participants will also engage in hands-on learning activities, including horseback riding and survival skills training. Furthermore, the program focuses on building life skills, developing appropriate coping strategies, and learning conflict-resolution techniques.
DRMM clinical staff will use these opportunities to help the youth address their feelings of grief and loss. These activities aim to offer comfort and affection, ultimately enhancing the participants’ overall quality of life. Interacting with animals will assist the youth in navigating many of life’s challenges, opening new doors for them and enabling them to make the most of everyday experiences. By working with the animals, the youth will rediscover peace, solace, and a renewed sense of well-being.
